BOOK 208: STAY SEXY & DON’T GET MURDERED: KAREN KILGARIFF & GEORGIA HARDSTARK
Sharing never-before-heard stories ranging from their struggles with depression, eating disorders, and addiction, Karen and Georgia irreverently recount their biggest mistakes and deepest fears, reflecting on the formative life events that shaped them into two of the most followed voices in the nation.
MY VERDICT: I am a big fan of this podcast. I started listening pretty close to the creation of what is now a podcast phenomenon. I even saw their live show in London last year. I was not as enamoured with this book though. It’s an easy read, it’s fine, I guess I was just expecting more. I was expecting it to maybe be deeper or more rewarding. There are a lot of what looks like filler, lists of things and advice that isn’t really advice. I love the girls and maybe was expecting a bit too much from them – I don’t know what I was expecting. It’s a fun read and there’s nothing wrong with it. I know Georgia’s mum fell out with her over some things that she’d written but I couldn’t find anything really salacious about it. Maybe because I read it on and off over a long period of time it lost its effect on me and I maybe have forgotten the best bits. I still stand by their mantra, stay out of the forest and buy your own shit; they do have some useful words of wisdom.
