CLAIRE HEFFER DESIGN: RENAISSANCE HAND HOLDING FLOWER ON DARK BACKGROUND

I worked backwards almost on the design of this piece. It did start life as something a lot more detailed but in removing a lot of the outlines that I started with it began to look a lot more painterly than a lot of my other flower pieces, even though they’re all inspired by renaissance paintings. I removed a lot of the flowers and made the background a deep off-black colour that made the simplicity of the arm stand out even more. It’s one of my favourites and I can’t wait to print a large copy for my wall.
