FOCUS ON: TERRAZZO
The terrazzo trend made a come back a few years ago and shows no sign of going away any time soon. It’s such an interesting material that works for many different applications but also its very construction, design, shapes and appearance lend itself to other utilisations like art and painting and trays and coasters as well as the solid stuff to go on your floors.
Terrazzo is a versatile material that has been used for floor and wall treatments for many years, as far back as the mosaics of Egypt but its modern incarnation can be traced back to Italy. It is a composite material made up of chips of various materials, such as marble, quartz, granite, or glass, mixed with a binder.
Did you know the most famous example of terrazzo flooring is the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I never thought of it as Terrazzo until I really looked at a photo because mostly I think you’re looking at the name.
I’ve collected together for you here some of my favourite examples of Terrazzo across many different mediums, enjoy!
