JUST FINISHED LISTENING: OVER MY DEAD BODY: SEASON ONE: TALLY
There’s not a whole lot of information available about this particular podcast over on the Wondery website. They’re onto the third season of this podcast now and it seems like this one has been all but forgotten.
We start with a wedding, Dan Markel marries Wendi Adelson, a wedding already marked with troubles when Dan has to apologize to his rabbi guest that the food at the wedding is not kosher - something that was the responsibility of his new wife’s family. Not a great start - however as far as anyone can tell it doesn't cause visible problems between the new man and wife and the couple look happy and dance all night with each other and their guests.
A story of a ‘perfect’ marriage and how it all goes wrong, this story is not as shocking or suspenseful as many others found on the excellent Wondery network (I personally love Dr Death - find my review here). It’s a fairly straight-forward story with a little bit of a surprising twist in the middle but not that much of a shock end. I did however thoroughly enjoy listening to it - it’s well and concisely told and you are interested in how the story ends and whether justice would be done, a subject close to the victim, Dan Markel’s heart as a lawyer and law lecturer. The storytelling draws you into each episode and I binged this - the sign of a good podcast in my eyes. I would recommend this to fill some time and maybe cleanse a pallet between some heavier or darker subject matters.
