JUST FINISHED WATCHING: DR. DEATH
As patients entering the operating room of Dr. Christopher Duntsch for routine spinal surgeries start leaving permanently maimed or end up dead, two fellow surgeons and a young Assistant District Attorney set out to stop him.
TRIVIA: Dr. Duntch was originally to be played by Jamie Dornan (The Fall, Fifty Shades of Grey) only to be replaced by Joshua Jackson due to conflicts from COVID 19. Dornan and his family were in New York for filming as the Pandemic hit the US and the Country began to shut down. Dornan (& family) were able to safely return back to the UK.
The series' working title was "The Dirty Deeds of Duntsch," but Joshua Jackson threatened to leave the production unless it was changed.
The real Dr. Christopher Duntsch was accused of injuring 33 out of 38 patients in less than two years before his license was revoked by the Texas Medical Board.
MY VERDICT: If you haven’t heard the podcast this show is based on I would highly recommend listening to that first. It’s better but I think mostly because its more real. The dramatization of the story is good here though and all the actors are fantastic but I think it misses the impact of some of the more WTF moments. I think the only thing missing from the story as a whole though is that I would really like to see or hear some sort of apologies or taking of responsibility of the doctor in this case because that would make the difference between him being an evil monster or just incompetent and I think his pride stops him from being able to accept that responsibility. Just a little bit of my opinion at the end there.
