JUST FINISHED WATCHING: THE GREAT BRITISH SEWING BEE (2021)
Amateur sewers take on challenges as they compete to be named Britain's best home sewer.
MY VERDICT: Even though this show has been going for a while this is the first full series I’ve watched. I’ve seen bits and pieces when it’s been on tv here and there but never made the commitment before. I’m so glad I did. This show is charming with a capital CHARM. Not only do you learn things about sewing, because even if you can’t make a thing like me, it’s interesting to see how things are made, but it’s also amusing and sweet and the host Joe Lycett is one of the funniest comedians about at the moment. It’s inclusive, it’s entertaining and who knew there could be such stress in creating a buttonhole? I understand it’s not for everybody, but for me it was a lovely way to slow down and chill out and watch someone make a perfect dress.
I did want to be a fashion designer as a teenager before I realised technically, I have no talent for sewing and it was a drawing of designs I liked the most, so I became a designer instead.
