FILM 2070: A KISS BEFORE DYING (1991)

TRIVIA: Sean Young replaced Bridget Fonda. Young signed on after Fonda quit the production due to scheduling conflicts.

The movie was nominated for two Razzies at the 12th Golden Raspberry Awards in 1992. For her dual role as twins in this film, actress Sean Young won Razzies for both Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress. With this movie, Young became the first actress to be awarded two Golden Raspberry Awards in the same year.

The producers of the film wanted River Phoenix to play the lead. They approached him several times for the role, and kept increasing their offers, but he didn't feel a connection to the material and felt he was unsuitable to play the part, so repeatedly turned it down.

Adam Horovitz is seen driving a Volkswagen Beetle in the film - in real life, as Ad-Rock (of the Beastie Boys) - he wore a VW emblem as a medallion on stage.

One of a cycle of thrillers made during the early 1990s which were set around husband and wife characters. The films include Malice (1993), Deceived (1991), Shattered (1991), Mortal Thoughts (1991), Consenting Adults (1992), Unlawful Entry (1992), Presumed Innocent (1990), Guilty as Sin (1993), Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) and A Kiss Before Dying (1991).

According to Edwin Jahiel, the movie "blends the style of 1940s and 1950's films noirs with several homages to 'Alfred Hitchcock', some devious, others obvious, like Ellen watching Vertigo (1958) on TV; or like references to Psycho (1960), notably in a steamy sex scene inside a steamy shower, and a close-up of the drain".
