INSPIRATION: INTERIORS: STAIRS

This blog post started as a post about stair runners. I think stair runners look fantastic and would love to have one in the future, My stairs are currently bare and in a bit of state so it would take a lot of work to do but I thought I’d do a little research into the cheapest and easiest ways to achieve this dream, for example is it better to paint the runner rather than have carpet, do you need stair rods, how do you make the stir runner turn a corner? All these questions, but you know me, for the most part I just like looking at pictures and then when I researched stairs, all these beautiful architectural marvels appeared, and I just couldn’t help but share them with you. So whether you’re looking for research or just to marvel at some of these designs welcome to my stair mood board post and remember to click on the images for links to sources.

My highlights are;

·     Grey carpets with black stair rods

·     Patterned stair runners

·     Stair runners that only run on the stairs and not on landings, turns or corners

·     Stair runners that are painted on instead of using carpet

·     Bright contrasting edging on stair runners

·     Staircases that end with a spiral handrail

·     Minimal staircases with modern minimal handrails

·     Decorative art deco railings

·     Staircases with high sides

·     Elegant curves (I love curves in architecture find my post on circles and curves here…)

·     Painting the edge of the stairs but not the top
