JUST FINISHED WATCHING: SUCCESSION (2018–2023)

The Roy family is known for controlling the biggest media and entertainment company in the world. However, their world changes when their father steps down from the company.

TRIVIA: Brian Cox claimed that playing Logan Roy resulted in the first time of his career in which everyone in public recognizes him on both name and face.

Director Adam McKay successfully advocated for shooting the series on 35mm film instead of digitally to give a more classical look to a saga of old money.

Brian Cox (born 1946) is only ten years older than Alan Ruck (born 1956) who plays his son.

MY VERDICT: You’ve probably heard all the hype about this show following it’s final episode, and I’m here to tell you that it does in fact live up to its hype. I loved this show from the start, I watched it after the first season finished because I like to binge and as soon as I started to watch I said to myself, my boyfriend will love this, and we watched it together again from the start. And I will definitely be watching it again all the way through. Never has a show about people being so mean to each other been so watchable. Some of it is confusing, but I like that about it, it keeps you guessing, and it is very hard to predict outcomes often, so it’s a fun show to speculate on, I’ll be interested to watch it again without that aspect but I’m sure I will be able to pay even more attention to the wonderful wonderful camera work, direction, script and acting the next time around. I also find it interesting, now that I’ve watched it all to watch the youtube videos dissecting certain aspects of the show.
